Holy crap!

Wow... Where did I come from!?

Hehe... Sorry for SUCH a long delay in my posting. I've been really really busy with Student Teaching and finishing up my college degree. Thank goodness it's all going to be over in about a month!

However... in about a month is ....gasp... CHRISTMAS!! So with that in mind, I've started my work on the many handmade Christmas gifts, ornaments, and decorations I intend to produce. How many of these that I have planned will I complete - I have no idea. But with hope, I will get a majority of them done.

Right now I am working on a stuffed ball like this one below by Grand Revival Designs. I am making it from light flannel in patterns of baby blue. This will be for my Godson, J.J. He will be turning one around Thanksgiving this year and I'm really excited!

My Godson, J.J., the lucky recipient of a ton of fun baby toys I am making!

Since I feel so horrible about leaving you all for such a long time, here are some photos of a few things I've made in my absence.

Some yummy little cupcakes and a lollipop - polymer clay

Stuffed "j" decoration - felt

"It Starts with a Cup" swap on Swap-Bot.com

Hopefully my next installment won't be too far off, but in the meantime, Happy Crafting!

Where have I been??

Oh man... I've been slacking!! I had the next Etsy Eight all ready to post, but now some of the items are sold out. I've been just so busy with Student Teaching that blogging, crafting, and even cleaning have taken a backseat! And it doesn't look like it will be letting up soon... Tomorrow I get observed by my supervisor, and then Back to School night is tomorrow, Friday I have Dinner night with the girls and then I am driving home for the weekend with my boyfriend for my neice's third birthday party. Man, oh man!!

Here is a photo of my neice sporting a Cupcake disc charm I made her.

Well, there is a little update for you guys (if anyone actually reads this) in case you were wondering. I am planning a Giveaway very soon! Like... As soon as I take pictures of what I plan on giving away!

Breathe Deep...

Today I got to meet all of my students. A bit of a quiet bunch among the 9th graders, but those 11th graders were wild! I am really excited to dive into this whole teaching experience... I just hope I don't mess it up. The chairperson of the education department at my university came to talk to us today and she is one intimidating lady! I really hope I don't do something wrong... She made it seem like if we were to sneeze the wrong way, we'd fail! Ugh.

On a positive note, I got a package today! I ordered a Fat Quarter on clearance and it was waiting for me when I got home from teaching today!

This photo is from the listing, I'm too lazy to take another. Can't beat the price, either! $1.25 before shipping. Check out Mineymo's shop for more adorable printed fabrics! I think I may be making a makeup bag out of this one. Stay tuned!

Woo!! Pin Cushion!!!

Okay, so it's official. I am a shopaholic. After school today, I went out with Andrea (roomie) to Michael's because she needed to return a frame. Of course, I wander off into the happiness that is a craft store. A basket full of clearance stuff later, my beloved Andrea uses her sick employee discount to get me all my goodies for $11! Yeaaahh!! Me living with someone who works at a craft store is like a coke-head living with a drug dealer. BAD NEWS! Hahahah!

I got lots of felt, three fat quarters, a ton of stickers, two rolls of ribbon, a few pieces of decorative paper, and a piece of fabric that is kind of velour-like for 25cents! All-in-all, it's a good haul.

So school was good... It was just a teacher's in service, so I showed up, did my thing, met with my cooperating teacher, and then he let me go home early. Tomorrow we are setting up our classroom! Yaaay!

I finished the pin cushion for Grandma. Check it out!

Now it's time for a nap before my staff meeting. Adios!

Goodbye Summer!

Ahhh, Labor Day. The official end to summer for most of my life... This time, it's truly the end. Tomorrow I start Student Teaching. No students just yet, but meetings and what not at the school. Then the kids come. Then I am no longer a kid myself - I have to walk, talk, and act like a teacher everyday. My stomach is full of butterflies. I plan on setting out my outfit, getting the coffee pot ready, and going to be early.

For now, while I'm stuck in the RA office on duty, I'm making a pin cushion for my Grandma. Before I moved back to school, she hemmed three pairs of teacher pants for me overnight!! She's a sewing ANIMAL! In return, I plan on making her a pin cushion, maybe a little handbag, and sending candies. I love my Grandma! Here is the pin cushion pattern I am following - I'm using a nice burgundy fabric I found. That's my Grandma's favorite color.

Square Deal Pin Cushion by Heather Bailey - This is a Free Pattern that I just LOVE! I can't wait to finish up this pin cushion and send it on its way! I plan on making one for myself, too. The lame little felt poof I rigged together just isn't cutting it.

I did a bit of shopping the other day... Here are the goodies!

I have two 1/2 yards - one in black, and one in white. They have each have a really neat pattern on them... I sense a purse or two... The orange was a really cheapie remnant that I grabbed. I think it's a cute color! I got some ribbon... Some D rings... Some buttons.... A couple of clearance stamps... some jump rings and chain... Oh! And some ADORABLE mini paper bows!! I can't wait to find some random reason to put those to good use. I really need a life. Sigh.

Back to School... Back to School!

The time has come for me to move my junk down the NJ Turnpike and cram it into my tiny college dorm apartment again! It seems no matter what I do, I end up with more and more junk to haul around each year. I'm trying so hard to keep the amount down this time since I will only be at school for one semester. Pshh. As I look around my room now, I can see that I've totally failed.

I am sad and happy at the same time that I'm leaving to go back to school. Sad because, obviously, I'll be away from my family and my best friend. It's going to be strange this semester because my boyfriend, Bobby, who I have been with since Freshman year, graduated in May and won't be back at Rowan with me. He doesn't live far, so I am sure I will see him, but not nearly as much as I'm used to. I guess I'm a little spoiled XD  I am happy to go back because I neeeeeed my own space. Don't get me wrong, I love my family and I get along great with my Mom and Dad, but I need to be able to set the rules myself. I am nervous about Student Teaching, I really hope I don't screw it up. Oh well, we will see how that cookie crumbles.

But for now, I'm off to my fourth (FOURTH??!!) RA training session. Sheesh. Most RA's don't even make it to two years and I'm on four. I must love pain and punishment. Hahaha!
